|PRIME MINISTER Faisal Fayez arrived Monday in Abu Dhabi on a two-day visit for talks with UAE officials on means to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Fayez flew to the United Arab Emirates from Manama, where he delivered a letter from His Majesty King Abdullah to Bahraini King Hamad Ben Issa.
Earlier yesterday, the premier discussed bilateral ties and regional developments with his Bahraini counterpart Sheikh Khalifa Ben Salman Al Khalifa.
Fayez stressed the need to develop economic ties between Jordan and the Gulf kingdom, especially that the two sides have signed a free trade agreement. He said joint ventures are prone to strengthen these ties.
Describing the stability of the Gulf countries as "very crucial," the prime minister said terrorist attacks against Saudi Arabia have their negative impact on the entire region.
Fayez also met Crown Prince Sheikh Salman Ben Hamad Al Khalifa, the general commander of the Bahraini defence force. The two discussed bilateral ties and regional developments.
King Hamad, who received Fayez on Sunday, stressed that supporting Jordan's stability is essential and described Jordan as "the strong shield protecting the Gulf."
The Jordanian delegation included Minister of Water and Irrigation and Minister of Agriculture Hazem Nasser and Minister of Labour Amjad Majali, Secretary General of the Prime Ministry Salim Kheir, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Political Development and Parliamentary Affairs Bashir Rawashdeh.
